Nicaraguan bantamweight Jordan “La Cobra” Orozco kept his perfect professional record intact Friday night, stopping Cuban fighter Yusniel Abrahante in the sixth round at the Caribe Royale Orlando in Florida.
The Oct. 2 victory improved Orozco’s record to an impressive 18-0, with all 18 victories coming by knockout. The victory was particularly memorable because it came on Orozco’s 22nd birthday. He also retained his WBA Continental Gold bantamweight title.
But the victory did not come easily.
Abrahante, who entered the bout with an 8-2 record, controlled much of the first half of the scheduled 10-round fight. The Cuban used his speed, precision and technique effectively, forcing Orozco to miss with several power shots and clearly taking the first five rounds.
Everything changed in the sixth.
Orozco increased the pressure and began landing powerful shots to the body, particularly left hooks. He eventually trapped Abrahante against the ropes and unleashed a sustained combination. With the Cuban unable to respond effectively, referee Luis Pabón intervened and stopped the fight.
The victory continued an extraordinary knockout streak for Orozco, whose professional career began in 2023. The young Nicaraguan remains undefeated and has yet to hear the final bell as a professional.
His team has indicated that the goal is for Orozco to fight twice more before pursuing a world championship opportunity in 2027.
