Adaptada y dirigida por el Profesor Carlos Barón, y su música compuesta y dirigida por el estudiante Damián Núñez.
La obra sigue las aventuras de los vestigios de una tropa de teatro, representada por los personajes de Lear, Cordelia y El Tonto, mientras viajan de pueblo en pueblo en búsqueda de actuaciones.
El guión original, del escritor argentino, Alberto Adellach, es una adaptación de “El Rey Lear” de Shakespeare, con sus propias raíces de tercer mundo y espectro universal. El Profesor Carlos Barón tradujo la obra al inglés y agregó una nueva escena y letras, haciendo que la obra tuviera más resonancia en la sociedad norteamericana de hoy.
El estudiante de post grado, Damián Núñez compuso música ecléctica para que sea interpretada por un pianista, cellista, fagotista y percusionista. La versión de Adellach ganó el Premio Casa de las Américas de 1982, entregado por una de las principales instituciones culturales de Cuba.

SFUSD’s language immersion programs featured in film
Film makers Marcia Jarmel and Ken Schneider have created a film depicting students’ experiences in SFUSD’s language immersion programs, which will be featured in this year’s San Francisco International Film Festival.
The film, Speaking in Tongues – 4 kids, 4 languages, 1 city, 1 world, closely follows four students through an academic year to illustrate the complex shades of bilingual education.
Their parents talk about their reasons for enrolling their children and why they remain strong proponents of language immersion despite criticism from family, friends and English-only activists. Watch the trailer: www.speakingintonguesfilm.info.
