One of the world’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist and composer, Arturo Sandoval, will be SF in November.
Sandoval is one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, and has been seen by millions at the Oscars, at the Grammy Awards, and the Billboard Awards
Sandoval has been awarded 10 Grammy Awards, and nominated 19 times; he has also received 6 Billboard Awards and an Emmy Award. The latter for his composing work on the entire underscore of the HBO movie based on his life, “For Love or Country” that starred Andy Garcia as Arturo. His two latest Grammy award winning albums, “Dear Diz “Everyday I think of you” and Tango “Como Yo Te Siento” are now available worldwide. Arturo Sandoval’s newest CD, Eternamente Manzanero.

Cuban Alberto Lescay prepares tour through Mexico, Europe, US.
The young Cuban jazz musician Alberto Lescay is preparing an international tour that will take him to Mexico, Europe and the United States.
Lescay will present its new album Escape, licensed by the label of the Company of Recordings and Musical Editions, winner in the last edition of the Cubadisco award in the category of First Work
In conversation with Prensa Latina, the instrumentalist commented on the recording process of the album in which luxury guests participated, among them, the maestro Cesar Lopez (saxophone), Miguel Núñez (piano), Sule Guerra (voice) and César Hechavarría known as The Slow (three).
As he explained, the phonogram tries to follow the concepts of afro-new-jazz and tell a story through the relationship between image and sound, a trend he maintains in his artistic creation due to the influence of his father, the renowned artist Alberto Lescay.
According to the musician, the album is an odd experience and a leap to a higher stage in his career that needed a lot of influence, the roots of his land (Santiago de Cuba) and the electrifying experience of the conga.
World’s tallest statue inaugurated in India
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the world’s tallest statue, a controversial mass that is 182 meters tall in the state of Gujarat and that could cause environmental damage.
Designed to pay tribute to the independence hero and the symbol of Hindu nationalists, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his 143rd birthday, this monument surpasses the record of the Buddha of the Spring Temple, which is 128 meters tall, and doubles the size of the famous Statue of Liberty, in the United States.
The new structure, called the Statue of Unity, stands on a dam in the Narmada district of Gujarat, where it is expected to become a representation and an inspiration for Unity, Integrity and Peace around the world, although local tribal communities demand compensation for project’s damage to the environment.
