Maná will be recognized with the 2021 Billboard Award

The celebrated band will present their new single, a new version of El Reloj Cucú, featuring Mabel, at the Billboard Latin Music Awards and will speak at Latin Music Week

Billboard announced today that internationally renowned Mexican rock band in Spanish, Maná, will be honored with the Billboard ĺcono award that will be awarded to it at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Maná will offer an exclusive musical performance of his new single, a cover news of her classic hit El Reloj Cucú, along with new vocal sensation Mabel, during the awards show that will air on Thursday, September 23 live on Telemundo beginning at 7 pm/6c. The official single and video for El Reloj Cucú will be released on all digital platforms immediately after the musical performance. Additionally, Maná’s lead singer, Fher Olvera, will join Mabel in presenting the panel titled “Inside the Artist’s Soul” honoring single mothers, growing up without a father, and the role of tragedies in the creative process, on Billboard Latin Music Week, which returns to Miami from Sept. 20-24.

Maná will receive recognition at the Billboard Latin Music Awards for having carved out a career in which he has not only remained relevant over time, but has also become the most distinguished artist of his genre, praised worldwide. for achieving both musical and commercial success. Maná is an icon of Latin music, emblematic in rock and in all Spanish music.

During its 35-year career, the group originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, made up of Fher Olvera, Alex González, Sergio Vallín and Juan Calleros, has remained at the top. His music has been released in more than 40 countries, with more than 40 million records sold worldwide. Maná is widely regarded as the most successful touring Latin group of all time, having sold out on stages around the world. The band holds the record as the only artist to sell out seven shows at the prestigious Los Angeles Forum as part of a single tour, breaking the previous record of six shows by The Eagles and Kanye West.

To date, Maná has been recognized with 24 Billboard Latin Music Awards and this year is a finalist for “Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. Over the years, Maná has released 32 songs that charted on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, 10 of which were at the top, including Shared Lips and Lluvia al corazón, which spent eight consecutive weeks on the No. 1.

Among the countless additional recognitions that Maná has received, are his footprints on the Paseo del Rock in Hollywood, and a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, being the first rock band in Spanish to receive that honor. His influence goes beyond his music. For 25 years, the Selva Negra Ecological Foundation has been Maná’s social arm, combining conservation and rescue of the environment with social development. Most recently, the band joined forces with Dr. Anthony Fauci in support of President Joe Biden’s Month of Action to encourage vaccination among the Latino population in the United States.

The awards will coincide with Billboard’s Latin Music Week, which returns to Miami on Sept. 20-24, 2021 and will feature conversations and live performances with superstars like Karol G, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, and many more.
