Former president of Mexico’s new MORENA Party was murdered

by the El Reportero’s wire services

The remains of the prominent political leader, engineer Humberto Ortiz-García, former President of the MORENA party Jalisco, who had been reported missing for several days, was found inside a car with bullet holes in the chest and the skull. The finding took place in the State of Colima, municipality of Manzanillo, Mexico.

A native of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Ortiz-García had a long career as political activist of the left, in which he participated since the mid 80s, when he occupied a candidacy for the Mexican Workers Party, founded by the social fighter Heberto Castillo.

Engineer in agronomy, he worked in areas of communication where he held the position of vice director of Radio Universidad de Guadalajara, the head of production for channel 7 and series producer of political parties in the then Federal Electoral Institute.

In 2006 participated in Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s presidential campaign and, after the election of 2012, apart from collaborating in the foundation of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA, in Spanish).

Said former DF Mayor and presidential candidate, Andrés López Obrador on his Twitter account: “In 15 days 2 MORENA leaders killed, Armando Morales of Mexico City and Humberto Ortíz de Jalisco.”

“A great man, who is heard to speak for generations”, said Gabriel Quintero on his Facebook account.

Other comments on Facebook:

Luis Fernando Torres: “We are indignant, but we will continue, we will carry the ideals of Humberto as a flag, we will not give up until victory.”

Javier Delgadillo: God has you in His glory, He knows very well the intentions of the heart and knows your struggle for the people in most need of justice.

Pedro Mariscal: “Of high-quality human, inclusive, tolerant and supportive. “Regret deeply his violent death and demand, as many of his friends and brethren do, the solving of this crime that rarefies even more the climate of insecurity that is has taken over the State of Colima and great part of our country.”

Panchito Quintero: “A thorough, wise man anything who knew any subject matter you talked with him. Thank you brother-in-law for your wise advice and for being part of my family, a great big hug all the way to heaven.”

He is survived by his mother, his wife Berta Yolanda Quintero and two sons, Carlos Humberto y Patricio and three sisters.

Teachers and Parents of the 43 Teaching Students March in Mexico City

Members of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE, in Spanish) and parents of the 43 missing teaching students of Ayotzinapa, marched on Aug. 16 to the Ministry of the Interior in Mexico City.

The protest took place prior to the meeting that has been scheduled by the CNTE with officials of that body.

Resulting from the agreements adopted last Sunday in the Representative National Assembly, CNTE members demonstrated outside the premises of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP, in Spanish), to demand the repeal of the educational reform.
Several speakers stated they would not allow the start of lessons at the beginning of the next school term (scheduled for Monday 22nd) if the resumption of dialogue with the Interior Ministry and the presentation of concrete proposals and attention to their demands were not taken seriously.

Meanwhile, Felipe de la Cruz, a spokesman for the parents of the missing 43 teaching students reiterated their demand that the soldiers involved in their disappearance be questioned and investigated.

Mexico: one of the 10 nations with the greatest linguistic diversity

by the El Reportero’s news services

Mexico is among the 10 countries with the greatest linguistic diversity, it was known here today on the occasion of the International Day of the World’’s Indigenous Peoples.

In the country live 16 million indigenous peoples and about seven million speak their mother tongue.
However, these native languages are endangered, assured Julio César Villanueva, coordinator of Náhuatl teaching at the Foreign Language Center, Zacatenco Unit, in the National Polytechnic Institute.

It is essential to identify the problems of each region to avoid the loss of this cultural richness of Mexico, he said.
The number of speakers of those languages continues to decrease, which endangers the existence of the dialects used in the country, he added.

It was also argued that the causes of the phenomenon are migration due to lack of jobs, the social disapproval, the adoption of Spanish, the mixture of languages and the opposition of some ethnic groups to adapt to the linguistic changes.

Finally, the expert reported that the Mexican dialects endangered are: kiliwa (Baja California); chocolteco (Oaxaca); náhuatl (Veracruz), diapaneca (Tabasco) and Mocho (Chiapas).

Guillermo de la Peña, from the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology, warned that this group still suffers discrimination because of their phenotype, dress, language or customs.

He explained that currently 80 percent of the indigenous population lives in poverty and 30 percent in the category of extreme poverty.

Oaxaca is the Mexican state with the highest number of speakers of indigenous languages, while the three most used in the country are náhuatl (23.4 percent), maya (11.6) and tseltal (7.5).

Mexico has 68 native languages and 364 variants, out of which 64 are at high risk of disappearing, according to the National Institute of Indigenous Languages.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) established August 9th as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.s Peoples.

Cuban Habano man going for Another Guinness Record for largest cigar

Guinness book record breaker and popular ‘’Hombre Habano’’, Jose Castelar, also known as ‘’Cueto’’, will today try to make another long cigar, longer than the 80.81 meters he achieved in 2011.

To accomplish his feat, the cigar roller will need to put in at least 300 hours of work collecting tobacco leaves at the most famous tobacco plantation in the world, in Vueltabajo, in the western province of Pinar del Rio.

A team of a dozen employees, including doctors and physical therapists, will support Cueto in this feat. They have accompanied him since early April 2001 when he made his first 11.04 meters long cigar.

The long, rolled cigar will be made at the oldest colonial fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña, currently a military museum park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Cueto works at La Triada Habano House in Havana, and his other official Guinness certificates were recorded in 2003, 2005 and 2009.

Castelar was born 72 years ago in Rancho Veloz in the central province of Villa Clara and has rolled cigars in the united Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Venezuela, Holland and China among other countries.

FBI opts to investigate source of DNC leaks, rather than rigged primary

– For those not up to speed with the circus surrounding the 2016 presidential race, here’s a quick summary of one of the biggest developments in the last week and a half. On July 22nd, Wikileaks leaked emails showing top figures of the Democratic National Committee worked to knock Bernie out of the primary and manipulate the media. Clinton’s campaign responded to the leaks the next day by blaming Russia, and it has since been theorized the Russians did it to help Donald Trump’s campaign.

by Josie Wales
This article first appeared at Antimedia

Trump spoke to the press about his alleged involvement with the email leaks. Though he denied any involvement, he also redirected attention back to the content of the documents and their implications, going on to say he hopes they find the rest of the emails missing from Clinton’s server. He was immediately labeled a traitor and a threat to national security by the Clinton campaign, as well as by all the media outlets in her pocket.

Yet Trump is not the one who was reckless with classified information, Hillary — that was you. He’s not the one who was exposed leading his party on a mission to squash anyone in the way — that was the woman you just hired as honorary chair.

Hillary’s team has turned her scandal into a terrifying foreign policy issue because generating fear is the only thing the government and its establishment politicians know how to do, and they do it well. Hillary isn’t responsible for any of this mess — Russia did it; Russia is scary; Russia is working with Donald Trump; Donald Trump is scary; Hillary can save you; vote for her.

The FBI and “cyber security experts” have implicated Russia, but there is no proof other than speculation and what experts are calling “circumstantial evidence.” So let’s play devil’s advocate: say we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Russia did it. There is no proof whatsoever linking Donald Trump to the Russian government. Hillary’s campaign is using a common smear tactic used to manipulate popular opinion: the promotion of baseless accusations. It’s simple, yet extremely effective.

The media keeps pumping out headlines regarding Russia and Donald Trump and national security, and as a result, people will naturally start associating those things in their minds — proof or not. We saw that in the Silk Road trial, where Ross Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison for running a website. He was publicly accused of soliciting the services of hitmen, meaning the FBI intentionally made public what they thought he might have done before he even got to court. No charges were brought related to this accusation, but it didn’t matter. Ross walked into that courtroom painted as a killer. An accusation like that immediately makes someone untouchable; no one wants to defend a murderer — or a traitor, for that matter.

Take whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was formally charged by the United States government after he leaked the NSA’s PRISM Surveillance program, proving American citizens were — and still are — being spied on by their own government. Snowden’s the bad guy — not the government. The government keeps you safe by secretly stockpiling all of your private information, and Edward Snowden is stopping them from keeping you safe. Be mad at Edward Snowden. Trust the government. Don’t think. Trust us.

This is absurd. If the email leak is a threat to national security, the government has much larger problems than Donald Trump. First, there should be no correspondence from the Democratic National Committee that contains any information threatening to the national security of this country. Second, if there’s an implication somewhere that Russia could be hacking into other U.S. agencies for classified information, why would the American government announce that government’s ability to do so, compromising their channels to all of our information? Doesn’t this mean the government will be going through and examining its cyber security programs, looking for ways to improve them? Doesn’t sound much like a desired outcome. Third — and most important — we should not have to be dependent on hackers to tell us the truth about our government.

None of this means Donald Trump is any more suited to be president than Hillary Clinton. It just means that right now, he’s standing back with hands up, playing innocent and enjoying every moment of this trainwreck. Meanwhile, Clinton’s campaign is scrambling to twist this email scandal into something that will scare people to divert attention away from the fact she is steeped in corruption and lies. And the FBI has played right into the Clinton diversion. Instead on an investigation being initiated into the fact the DNC was caught red-handed rigging the Democratic primary, it’s looking into the hypothetical scenario that Russia hacked into the DNC.

And we’re just supposed to believe what she and her experts say is true. She would never…mislead people…would she? Yet that’s pretty much the only thing she does well; she lies and gets caught. It’s almost unbelievable the people who work for her haven’t gotten sick of cleaning up after her messes.

In September 2015, Agenda 21 was transformed into the 2030 Agenda

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR

Dear readers,

I love to share controversial subjects that I find in the internet. Previously we published an article about Agenda 21, a plan elaborated by the United Nations to control humanity. And now we are doing a continuation to the theme, which it was transformed into Agenda 2030. Hope it will be helpful to you in finding answers to what many of us ignore about what’s going on in our world. I am publishing it in order to awaken conscience for those sleeping minds.

In September 2015, Agenda 21 was transformed into the 2030 Agenda

by Michael Snyder
Aug. 6, 2015

If you didn’t like “Agenda 21”, then you really are not going to like “The 2030 Agenda”. Next month, the United Nations is going to launch “The 2030 Agenda” at a major conference that will be held from September 25th to September 27th in New York City. The Pope is actually traveling to New York to deliver an address which will kick off this conference. Unlike Agenda 21, which primarily focused on the environment, the 2030 Agenda is truly a template for governing the entire planet. In addition to addressing climate change, it also sets ambitious goals for areas such as economics, health, energy, education, agriculture, gender equality and a whole host of other issues. As you will see below, this global initiative is being billed as a “new universal Agenda” for humanity. If you are anything like me, alarm bells are going off in your head right about now.

This new agenda is solidly rooted in a document known as “Agenda 21” that was originally adopted by the United Nations back in 1992. The following comes from Wikipedia…

The full text of Agenda 21 was made public at the UN Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit), held in Rio de Janeiro on June 13, 1992, where 178 governments voted to adopt the program. The final text was the result of drafting, consultation, and negotiation, beginning in 1989 and culminating at the two-week conference.

Since that time, Agenda 21 has been modified and amended numerous times. Noteworthy changes occurred in 1997, 2002 and 2012.

But now the UN’s sustainable development program is being given an entirely new name, and the scope of this agenda is being broadened dramatically. The following is what the official United Nations website has to say about it…

The United Nations is now in the process of defining Sustainable Development Goals as part a new sustainable development agenda that must finish the job and leave no one behind. This agenda, to be launched at the Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015, is currently being discussed at the UN General Assembly, where Member States and civil society are making contributions to the agenda.

Just a few days ago, the core document for the 2030 Agenda was finalized. When what is in this document starts getting out, it is going to create a huge stir among Americans that are concerned about the ambitions of the globalists. The following comes from the preamble of this document…

This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognise that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.

All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path. As we embark on this collective journey, we pledge that no one will be left behind.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which we are announcing today demonstrate the scale and ambition of this new universal Agenda. They seek to build on the Millennium Development Goals and complete what these did not achieve. They seek to realize the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. They are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, social and environmental.

As you can see, this is not just a plan to fight climate change.

This is literally a blueprint for transforming global society.

The core of the plan is a set of 17 specific goals…

Goal 1 End poverty in all its forms everywhere
Goal 2 End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
Goal 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Goal 4 Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Goal 5 Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Goal 6 Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
Goal 7 Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
Goal 8 Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
Goal 9 Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Goal 10 Reduce inequality within and among countries
Goal 11 Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Goal 12 Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
Goal 13 Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts*
Goal 14 Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
Goal 15 Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Goal 16 Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels
Goal 17 Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Many of those sound very good.

After all, who wouldn’t want to “end poverty” or “halt biodiversity loss”?

But as you read through that list, ask yourself what forms of human activity would be excluded from it.
Personally, I have a hard time coming up with much of anything.

As I discussed earlier this week, the globalists want to use “sustainable development” as an excuse to micromanage the lives of every man, woman and child on the entire globe.

We are told that individual liberty and freedom are “dangerous” because when everyone just runs around doing whatever they want it is “bad for the planet.”

For example, one of the goals of the sustainable development crowd is to push the human population into giant “megacities” and to allow nature to recapture much of what has already been settled by humanity.
The following map that comes from America 2050 is one example of what they want to do. A recent piece by Dave Hodges alerted me to this map, and it shows what the United States may look like in a few decades if the globalists have their way…

And of course this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Eventually, the globalists want to fundamentally transform virtually everything about our society. This includes our economy, our government, our entertainment, our social interactions, our families and even our religious beliefs.

So don’t let all of the nice language fool you.

This “new universal Agenda” is far, far more dangerous than Agenda 21 ever was, and it is a giant step forward into a one-world system governed by bureaucratic control freaks.

Plastic surgeon says women with breast implants have 10 times the risk for cancer

by Amy Goodrich

Many women around the world have breast implants for cosmetic reasons or following breast-cancer surgery.
In rare occasions, these breast implants may lead to a new emerging cancer type, called breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma, or BIA-ALCL. Although the risk is small, before making their decision patients should be advised about the possible cancer risk triggered by one of the most common implants.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, American plastic surgeon Professor Mark Clemens said that while the disease is still very rare, the actual incidence has been hugely underestimated.

True incidence is ten times higher than previously reported

BIA-ALCL is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic fluid and should not be confused with breast cancer. As a part of the immune system, lymphatic fluid circulates throughout the body spreading the newly formed cancer cells to other tissues where they can slowly develop into solid tumors. Detectable tumors are typically seen at least four years after the surgery.

So far 173 patients worldwide have been identified with BIA-ALCL. Professor Clemens has been tracking cases since the first report of it in 2011 and has studied the disease in depth. He believes that the commonality of BIA-ALCL is ten times higher than what women are often told.

He said: “A figure of one in 500,000 has been quoted, but this is a vast underestimate. It does not take into account that it takes on average ten years after an implant for symptoms to occur. Given this, the actual number is one in 50,000.”

As a result, many women are completely unaware of the true risk of the surgery. Some aren’t being told about the disease at all – including BIA-ALCL survivor Charlotte Fouracres. She claims that the disease was never mentioned by her doctors or their staff.

BIA-ALCL often not recognized

In 2012, the 30-year-old teacher from Colchester, Essex, underwent cosmetic surgery to take her breasts from a B to a D cup to boost her self-esteem. In July 2015 Charlotte discovered a lump in her breast which was later confirmed as anaplastic large cell lymphoma or ALCL.

She was immediately put on chemotherapy, which failed to halt the tumor from spreading to her chest wall, making surgery impossible. With her health dramatically slipping through her fingers, Charlotte feared that she might not be able to see her four children grow up.

Given her fast deteriorating health, she was advised to consult breast surgeon Fiona MacNeill at cancer center The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London.

Dr. MacNeill had treated two other patients with BIA-ALCL and found that Charlotte was wrongly diagnosed for the more common ALCL. She explained that the diagnosis for BIA-ALCL is very rare and requires more specific tests.

She told the Daily Mail that the cancer is relatively new to the medical world. As a result, many doctors often don’t recognize it when they see it. Although both are quite similar, she said that it is possible that BIA-ALCL does not respond well to the type of chemotherapy used to treat the more common form.

Shortly after Charlotte received seven cycles of a £10,000 ($13,000) biological therapy drug, followed by the removal of the implants. According to her doctors, Charlotte is now completely free of cancer, but she will need monitoring for the next five years.

Recently, the Agence Nationale de Securite du Medicament et des Produits de Sante (ANSM) has ordered manufacturers to prove the safety of their implants and is pushing for more research into how these silicone prostheses trigger cancer development. (Natural News).

Rigged election?

A history of presidential candidates who’ve made allegations

by Fred Lucas

The current election is not the first time a candidate has charged that the game was rigged. The new book, Tainted by Suspicion: The Secret Deals and Electoral Chaos of Disputed Presidential Elections, delves into the common thread regarding the most controversial presidential elections in history.

The focus is on elections that dragged well beyond Election Day, decided by another branch of government. Here’s excerpts from three of the elections featured in the book.

1824: John Quincy Adams vs. Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson believed the presidency was his. He clearly made the most impressive showing, carrying a majority of electoral votes in 11 states—Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee. In an election defined by regional preference, Jackson was the only national candidate.

John Adams won the formerly Federalist strongholds of the six New England states, plus New York. William Crawford carried only Delaware, his home state of Georgia, and Virginia. It was enough to put him in third place.

On Dec. 1, 1824, the Electoral College announced the results. Jackson won the most Electoral College votes, winning 99 votes to the 84 votes for Adams. However, he didn’t have a majority, or 131, of the electoral votes that he needed. Despite coming in last place in the popular vote, Crawford would actually beat Henry Clay in the Electoral College, 41 voters to Clay’s 37 votes.

After arriving in Washington on Dec. 7, 1824, Jackson wrote a letter to political supporter and former military ally John Coffee in Tennessee informing him of rumors that Adams and Clay had struck a deal, or would do so if they haven’t already.

Before the vote, a Philadelphia newspaper, the Colombian Observer, published an anonymous letter on Jan. 28 claiming Clay would back Adams in return for being named secretary of state. Clay strongly denied this.

Most of Clay’s supporters, as well as the remaining Federalists, backed Adams in the House, enough to give him a single vote victory. The House delegations of three states that Jackson carried, Illinois, Louisiana, and Maryland, went to Adams. This gave Adams a majority of 13 out of 24 states.

Though not the first president elected after a drawn out process, Adams was the only president to assume office without a majority of the electoral votes.

1876: Rutherford Hayes vs. Samuel Tilden

Democrats used violence, lynching, and riots to scare blacks away from voting, knowing it was possible for Republicans to carry some Southern states. Republicans were intent that two could play at this game, and in some cases actually sought to persuade blacks to vote by shotgun.

The day before the election, U.S. Marshal J.H. Pierce of the Northern District of Mississippi telegraphed Republican National Committee Chairman Zach Chandler, asserting that “the election in the northern half of the state will be a farce … Colored and white Republicans will not be allowed to vote in many counties.
The Tilden clubs are armed with Winchester rifles and shotguns and declare that they will carry the election at all hazards. In several counties of my district leading white and colored Republicans are now refugees asking for protection.”

On Nov. 7, 1876, Tilden won the national popular vote 4,288,546 to 4,034,311 votes for Hayes, and 184 to 165 in the Electoral College. More than 80 percent of eligible voters actually turned out, some reportedly voting more than once, and others having their votes shredded if it was for the “wrong candidate.”

It was after midnight. The RNC’s Chandler—like Rutherford Hayes—had turned in for the night convinced of the party’s loss. But using Chandler’s signature from the RNC headquarters, Daniel Sickles telegraphed the Republican governors of South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana to say, “With your state sure for Hayes, he is elected. Hold your state.”

At 3 a.m., South Carolina’s Republican Gov. Daniel Chamberlain responded on a telegraph machine, “All right. South Carolina is for Hayes. Need more troops.”

Three days after the election, Nov. 10, President Grant issued an order to General W.T. Sherman to instruct generals in Florida and Louisiana:

“No man worthy of the office of President should be willing to hold it if it counted in or placed there by fraud. Either party can afford to be disappointed by the result, but the country cannot afford to have the result tainted by suspicion of illegal or false returns.”

2000: George W. Bush vs. Al Gore

The first Tuesday of November in 2000 came the same day as the Election Day 1876—on the seventh. Half the country may have had better things to do than follow the Bore and Gush contest before election, but a decisive majority of Americans were glued after Election Day.

Bush would almost certainly have had significantly more votes had the networks not called Florida before polls closed in the heavily-Republican Panhandle, which is in the Central time zone. Gore campaign strategist Bob Beckel said that Bush lost at least 8,000 votes in the Panhandle alone because of the incorrect reporting.

Meanwhile, Republican polling firm McLaughlin and Associates estimated that Bush lost 11,500 votes because the networks reported the polls were closed in the Panhandle. Economist John Lott estimated between 7,500 and 10,000 voters in Republican counties were dissuaded from showing up.

In the popular vote, Gore beat Bush nationally with 50,996,582 to 50,456,062. That’s a half million votes. Neither candidate had 270 votes in the Electoral College. Gore had 266 votes. Bush had 246. The 20-electoral vote spread was not that different from Hayes-Tilden.

Democratic lawyers also began targeting the overseas absentee ballots from the military—which seemed to be more likely Republican voters. The attorneys threatened to sue Seminole County, where election officials corrected errors on thousands of applications for absentee ballots—many for military personnel. Democrats also targeted Duval County, which had one of the heaviest military populations in the United States. This prompted Republicans to say Democrats wanted to disenfranchise military voters.

Before this, Democrats had been able to control much of the message of demanding that every vote be counted. But when a memo surfaced from Democratic attorney Mark Herron that laid out a legal strategy for disqualifying military votes, Democrats found themselves on the defense. Despite a public relations problem, Democrats managed to disqualify 1,420 military ballots over various legal technicalities by Nov. 17.

Retired Army Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, hero of the Gulf War and Bush supporter, issued a strong statement, asserting: “It’s a very sad day in our country when the men and women of our country are serving abroad and facing danger on a daily basis in places like Bosnia, Kosovo, or on ships like the USS George Washington, yet because of some technicality out of ‘their control, they are denied the right to vote for the president of the United States, who will be their commander-in-chief.’”

“Obama’s statement is reiterating something that the world public opinion already knew — the US was involved in the coup of [ex-Ukrainian President] Viktor Yanukovych from the start. History shows us that the US has overthrown numerous governments in Latin America, Asia and Africa and replaced them with leaders that ruled with a fascist ideology that proved useful for Washington’s geopolitical interests,” independent researcher and writer Timothy Alexander Guzman told Sputnik.

Yanukovych’s decision to not sign an association agreement with the European Union in late 2013 triggered a mass wave of protests across Ukraine, culminating in the February 2014 coup. Following the transition of power, Kiev forces launched military operation against those who refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new government.

Guzman claimed that during the Ukrainian conflict, Washington and its NATO allies worked directly with right-wing Ukrainian Fascist groups, including the neo-Nazi inspired Right Sector militia.
International law professor at the University of Illinois College of Law Francis Boyle shares a similar opinion, also arguing also that Obama’s approach to Ukraine is no different to the neoconservative approach of former US national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, or political scientist Samuel Huntington’s “clash of civilizations” philosophy.

“I think he [Obama] has made it very clear that he is going to continue to take a Brzezinski hard-lined approach toward Ukraine and Russia and that there are not going to be any compromises at all, and effectively he expects President Putin to throw in a towel, capitulate, whatever, it does not appear to me there is any ground for negotiations in light of what President Obama at least said publicly,” he said in an email to Sputnik.

Boyle also stated that the United States may already be sending covert offensive military equipment to Ukraine, despite Washington’s claims that it provides Kiev only with non-lethal aid. The expert also claimed that Obama’s ignorance of the Minsk agreements and of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposals to negotiate the conflict peacefully, indicates that Washington is going to continue with its aggressive policy in Ukraine.

“How can Russia tolerate this gang of Nazis in Kyiv [Kiev] setting up shop right there on the borders of Russia, and being armed, equipped and supplied by NATO? Of course, Russia cannot tolerate that,” Boyle concluded, adding that the Unites States itself would not tolerate such threats close to its borders.

Obama & Merkel to Discuss Arming Ukraine in Washington Next Week

“The very fact that Obama feels he needs to comment on [the] US direct role in the regime change [in Ukraine] and on Putin’s response over Crimea in this manner, rather than calling Putin a Hitler with well thought out expansionist designs, as has become the norm in the US, speaks for itself: perhaps, the White House is finally coming to the view that it needs to come to its senses and negotiate with Moscow,” Vlad Sobell, a professor at New York University’s Prague campus stated.

On Sunday, US President Barack Obama, in an interview with CNN’s Zakiria, explained that the United States “brokered a deal to transition power in Ukraine.” The US President said that Russian President Vladimir Putin made his decision to legally annex Crimea “not because of some grand strategy, but essentially because he was caught off-balance by the protests in the Maidan.”

In late 2013 a decision by Ukraine then-President Viktor Yanukovych to avoid signing an association agreement with the European Union triggered mass protests across Ukraine, dubbed Maidan, culminating in the February coup. Following the coup and a rise in aggressive nationalism in the country, Crimea seceded by referendum from Ukraine and rejoined Russia in March 2014.

Former US officials urge Washington to send lethal military aid to Ukraine

Pepe Escobar, a correspondent for Asia Times, Hong Kong, who has closely followed developments in Ukraine, told Sputnik of his belief that every independent observer, including himself, “had known from the beginning those $5 billion, [US Assistant Secretary of State] Victoria Nuland’s number, over the years unleashed to boost ‘freedom’ in Ukraine one day would come to fruition.” And Putin was not ‘caught off-balance,’ Escobar added. “Russian intelligence knew in a few hours that Maidan would be replicated in Crimea, so the Kremlin acted swiftly,” he stated.

Professor Sobell claims that “Mr President [Obama] should be aware that Yanukovych fled [Ukraine] because he had solid reasons to fear for his life. The hallowed Maidan was not a peaceful democratic regime change, as it was presented in Western media, but a violent putch complete with murderous acts by hired assassins.”

Sobell states that unnamed EU officials affirm that on February 20 snipers shot both demonstrators and police dead, in order to provoke chaos. These crimes, he continued, are not being investigated by Kiev’s “democratic — Western values” regime or its Western sponsors, as “today it is ok to install a Nazi-driven regime by these means and then demand that Western tax- payers support it.”

According to Escobar, the way the Ukrainian coup will be perceived “all across the Global South is […] another US regime change operation, using local patsies.”

Commenting on the recent increase in hostilities between Kiev and independence supporters in the southeast of Ukraine, Sobell said the situation has changed in favor of the Donbas militia.

“Washington knows it and knows that they must either compromise, start genuine negotiations with Moscow and separatists, or escalate support for the Nazi regime by supplying it with arms. This would lead to major escalation of the conflict – at this point we cannot rule out that Obama will opt of this,” Sobell insisted.

Russia’s relations with the West deteriorated sharply in 2014, following Crimea’s reunification with Russia and the start of the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine. The United States and its allies accused Moscow of interfering in Ukraine’s internal affairs and imposed several rounds of economic sanctions, targeting Russia’s energy, banking and military sectors, as well as several high-ranking individuals.

U.S. Court rules in favor of chevron in Ecuador’s $9 billion lawsuit for rainforest damage

Ecuadorean plaintiffs cannot collect a $9 billion judgment in the U.S. against Chevron for rainforest damage, a federal appeals court ruled Monday, upholding a judge’s finding that the judgment was obtained through bribery, coercion and fraud.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York said U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan had the authority after a trial to rule in March 2014 as he did. It noted, however, that Kaplan’s decision doesn’t invalidate the Ecuadorian judgment and doesn’t stop the enforcement of the judgment outside the U.S.

Mexico spends billions of dollars on fuel imports

The government of Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto has spent nearly $86 billion USD on imports of gasoline, natural gas and petrochemicals, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said today.

Mexico was self-sufficient in gasoline production until 1998, when fuel demand exceeded domestic supply, and it became a net importer in the following 18 years, a trend that will continue in the next decade if the country does not built new refineries.

The national refining system consists of six refineries with a processing capacity of about 1.6 million barrels of oil per day.

The low refining capacity in Mexico is associated with several factors, including the lack of investment in the field, which along with a growing demand for gasoline (mainly by the automotive sector) have led to an increase in fuel imports.
