Natty Rodríguez impersonates Frida Khalo.San Jose Jazz, the producer of the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, presents dozens of free concerts in San Jose year-round.
Winter Fest is just around the corner, showcasing celebrated jazz artists, genre-busting emerging musicians and regional youth jazz ensembles performing in the heart of Silicon Valley.
In the next two weeks, it will feature performances by Robert Glasper, José James, Vijay Iyer, Sean Jones, Carolyn Wonderland, Tony Monaco, Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic, and Delhi 2 Dublin, master classes, a dance party with Rumbaché, and youth performances by the San Jose Jazz High School All Stars, the San José State University Jazz Orchestra, and the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco. A special presentation and Q&A session with Vijay Iyer will take place on March 14 at the PayPal Town Hall.
The play “Viva la Vida” original from master Humberto Robles will be featuring in a theatre evening in which Natty Rodríguez impersonates Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, in a monologue located between memories, dreams and the passionate reality of such a particular and controversial carácter.
The author offers us a part of Frida’s intímate biography on a Day of Dead when she prepares a party for Diego Rivera, León Trotsky and Andre Breton, among other characters in her life, with who she celebrates death itself in a joyful sui generis.
