  • S.F. will double police presence in housing authority sites

    San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom ann­ounced on March 6 the city’s intentions to double the number of housing authority sites that receive community policing patrols. He also introduced three criminal justice measures to reduce crime and violence including enforcement of federal trespassing on housing authority property, social services and an advisory committee for housing authority sites.

    San Francisco Mayor, Gavin Newsom, announced a forum to assist youth and families in the San Francisco community. The meeting will be held at the Excelsior Boys and Girls Club on April 21 at 2 p.m.

    California first lady Maria Shriver joined numerous volunteers in building a playground for the Watts Labor Community Action Committee Center in Los Angeles as the kickoff of an initiative to build 10 safe playspaces across California honoring the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chávez.

    El Alcalde de San Francisco Gavin Newsom anunció el 6 de marzo las intenciones de la ciudad de duplicar el número de sitios de la autoridad de vivienda que reciben patrullas de policía comunitarias. Él también introdujo tres medidas de justicia criminal para reducir el crimen y la violencia incluyendo la aplicación del traspaso federal en propiedad de autoridad de vivienda, servicios sociales y un comité consejero para los sitios de la autoridad.

    On February 28, hundreds of immigrant families gathered at the San Francisco Immigration Building on Sansome St. to protest the increase in ICE raids nationwide and in the Bay Area. This was the third day of the Week of Action Against ICE Raids for Immigrant Rights.
